New Member, New Budgie. Hi!

hi everyone! We just got a new budgie, from a man at the port adelaide bird store. he/she is fluoro yellow, with little white cheeks. My partner has named it "Budgie". :) We have a conure also, but she is in a seperate part of the house, as we didnt want her to scare the budgie. We had another budgie that passed away a few years ago, he was called dickie, and was so tame, and happy and chirpy all the time, but our new "budgie" just sits on the perch and hardly moves. He will trill once in a while, but thats it. Im worried that she doesnt like her new home. the shop owner said it hatched in january, and thinks that it is too early to tell, but that it may be a boy budgie. Its pretty big, and was in a cage at the shop with about 8 other really big budgies. The other budgies were bullying him a bit in the cage, but now we are wondering if its a bit lonely and misses his friends. Our last budgie was happy with just our company, but this one seems a little different. Should we give him a few weeks to get used to us and try to tame him and see if he opens up? Or should we get him a friend now so that he can settle in faster with one of his mates from the shop?

Blue legrings were used from September 1st last year and current till september this year. Your bird can be anything up to 8 nearly nine months old.

okay, so she is definately a girl then? And older than we thought. do you think she will get used to her surroundings? Or should we pick up one of her friends that she already knows for company? Or will she get happier with her new home as time goes on?

give her a bout a month to settle in

if she still looks like a stunned mullet get her a friend

but you could talk her around with treats

so come around some dont

You would find it near impossible to pick one of her "friends". She will settle in. Besides two budgies make it harder to tame them :)
