Hmmm.... just looked up flights and I can get there and back for under $150, might be worth a visit.

Now I've just got to try and find some relatives in Melboure that'll put me up for the night

Shame we can't ship ourselves around for the same amount it costs to transport our birds, I'm sure I could handle a few hrs in a box for cheaper airfairs, throw in a pillow :D

I did consider driving my car down, just thought it'd be more cost effective to fly, flight costs vs petrol cost....... Still thinking about it :) if I do I'll let you know and pick you up on the way.

I wasn't actually considering the :D funnily enough they're not actually a variety I was planning on focusing on it just kind of happened :) Also I'm hoping on approaching John Smithers for assistance with my Albinos, I'm told he has some of the best ones in NSW and he's president of my local so......

I really like lot 224 the spangle hen pictured and was wanting to get a few birds from a good bloodline to work with.

Too many vets fees of late to be spending up on budgies. If I really want any I have a mate or two who can bid for me BUT might give it a miss this time.

im giving big wide berth

no way i would be able to afford any birds from their

im not prepared to pay more than 150.00 on a good and i mean it want to be bloody supper albino but then if it was as good as i want it would go for more :(

auctions are for people with money to burn and a picture of their stud in mind to better their stock with a few good birds yes you can get bargins from auctions and good birds under or around 50.00 but i dont think that will happen at melton auction

i heard same as splat

a lot of money tossed around their

i dont have money to burn

or a good stud to better as yet :(

anyway i got to fix houseing before i get more birds :)

im loving the watson birds  always have

Hi Everybody,

For those concerned that they will be priced out of the market, below are the results of last years auction:

268 birds sold

<=$50 - 42 birds - 16%

$51 - $100 - 49 birds - 18%

$101 - $150 - 26 birds - 10%

$151 - $200 - 30 birds - 11%

$201 - $300 - 40 birds - 15%

$301 - $500 - 44 birds - 16%

$501 - $1000 - 22 birds - 8%

$1001 - $2000 - 13 birds - 5%

>$2000 - 2 birds - 1%

Hope this makes sense. For the record, one third of the offering sold for $100 or less.

I think the auction has something for everybody!

Cheers

i was told 350 and up

i saved enough for a choise in the 44 birds sold range is their going to be a shuttle bus from citty lol pmsl :P

m mabe next year i will get a lift in from some one

this year need to fix aviry to house next years auction birds :D

I had one couple tell me $1,000.00 up I guess that was to keep me away too.

I think I am going but mainly to look.

Ino is going and said to start saving if I want to go. So I guess I will go but mainly for a look..

Wouldn't mind a pair of Watson birds and you never no but I doubt it. I'm like GB don't have money to burn.

PLUS I am curtious about spending a heap on a bird as 2 weeks ago I lost my best hen and yesterday I lost another top hen that was important to my breeding programe, ruptured inside.

That's good to know, I was thinking about giving it a miss but if I do actually have a decent chance with walking away with something then it's back on the cards for sure.

I'd really like to get at least 3 pairs to start a decent line with.

well if you do fly or drive down spend a week or two hear as all the auctions are on the go and a very nice few birds going in all

i wont steel pts lime light and mention the auctions on but go to the bcv sight and cheak it out

your always welcome if you need a place to camp :wine

theirs a few im going too

as for this one its to far for me

Yes there is ment to be one at Ballarat June 5th, and I was told it is a good one to go too but it says in the Budgie News for enquiries and Catalogues on the BCV website but I can't find any mention of the Ballarat Auction on there at all.

yes i know a few going apparently its a good auction for cheaper good birds

apparently

maybe :wine next year we need to organize a driver and hire a small bus we can go from action to auction lol

:D

i think splat we could grab a few good bargains if we did this we could stay at a cheep dodge motel somewhere for the night between auctions before setting off back to the gippsland auction and settling at my house for a after auction drink and admire our buys

would need to start with the ballarat one then the melton one then what ever one is way back through to the gippsland auction and between them all

we would have a decent chance of something good

you would think

oh to dream

it wouldnt actually  be to hard to organize really

But the $$$$$$$$$$$$$ we better start saving. Hard with just living expenise sky rocketing urrgggg. I can't seem to keep the petro in my car, I think car is a petroholic because I can't seem to keep petrol in, it seems to be guzzling it all up.

Thinking of getting it checked, but I do run around alot but when you live 48 ks from Shepparton and the same from Kyabram, 27 fro Numurkah it's not hard to guzzle it all up.

I really miss living in Bendigo where everything was at my finger tips. Late night shopping, well a city of shops at that, plenty of take away shops....

1 supermarket here, hardhware store and a couple of other little shops and the usual for a small town. We only have 1 cafe/takeaway shop here now..

But yes wouldn't mind going to Ballarat. Because I would mind another 1 or 2 Howes birds for my clearbody line.

Thanks for that PT.

Will see you there.

Splat go to a Auction and not take home a bird :bliss: I might have to put a blind fold on you when we arrive.

Ino

I really wish these auctions were in July as I get a bit money then, on the 30th of June and that is tooooooo late and that really annoying.

well i dont need birds really

i have some fantastic stock i just need to try breed that first

im just a budgie holic

instead of clothes shopping or shoe shopping

or if i get spare money i dont buy chocolate or stuff when im down

i go buy a budgie lol

:D i cant stop myself either

so i reallydo have a problem

mabe their needs to be a budgerigars anonymous  ;)

my brother once said he was going to put out a warning to people not to let me into the pet stores or to be allowed to go to the breeders to look at their birds

he said posters in paper with my face on it :( and stuck around town on the poles and trash cans :P

Thanks for that PT.

I thought there would be an issue with getting birds into WA? Is that wrong? Y'know, quarantine rules etc?? If not that's terrific.

Thanks for that PT.
