June 4, 201015 yr Hi Linnux! I think your baby looks like it's a greywing. -Finnie Why would you say greywing at this stage ? The chick is definitely an opaline for a start......too soon to be saying greywing. Please post pictures of the parents. Oh, Okay. That's how my greywing babies looked, but maybe it's just a coincidence. I do still have a lot to learn. Well you could be right anyway....as the Dad does look like a greywing now that we have seen this photo He's pretty, isn't he? And I can see the mom is opaline, so Dad must be split for it, huh?

June 5, 201015 yr Those first downy pins are always white. Too soon to say opaline as its the secondary down that goes grey or white depending on mutation no? Im fairly sure all my chicks start with the primary down as white and then the secondary down goes grey in normals etc and stays white with ino's, opalines etc.

When is the ideal time to start training them to be hand fed or train them to talk or interact with us? How to start off with getting them tamed? http://i1018.photobucket.com/albums/af306/...ie/IMG_4245.jpg Edited June 22, 201015 yr by birdluv Picture turned to a link. Read this article http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/i...&artlang=en it tells you that baby budgies must be handled every day from the moment they hatch for varying reasons. This is a twice a day nestcheck and handling. If you havent done it up to now....why ? Handling them constantly will make a tame bird. I see no real reason to take chicks from their nest and begin handfeeding them if you handle them daily anyway. Constant interaction makes them a tame bird. Edited June 23, 201015 yr by KAZ
