May 6, 200520 yr Great picture's Bev . Have the other 2 eggs changed to a greyish colour ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just checked the other 2 eggs , they seem to be still "white". Bubs are 6 to 7 days old, so one would think that the other 2 would have hatched by now if they were going to. And I had a thought, if they did, wouldnt the other 2 chicks be just so much bigger that the new ones & maybe in danger of surviving??
May 6, 200520 yr Hi Bev, just love those babies. I have a couple of babies now as well. I haven't been game to disturb the mum too much, just had a peep in through the hole in the box and the babies are still naked. Looking forward to seeing what colours they are, the parents are mostly white, with faint brown markings on the wings (mum) and normal violet (dad).
May 7, 200520 yr Yes, the younger babies are always a lot smaller and they also usually grow slower too. But in my experience they do survive.
May 7, 200520 yr aww how cute.. omg i sound girl... umm.. they look very...sexy <{POST_SNAPBACK}> LOL and your from Blacktown ...I thought that was a tough part of Sydney. :fear

Is she still sitting on them? As far as them being bigger than any new ones that may come along, I don't think that matters if they have very good parents. Fred and Princess hatched 7 babies she had the first 5 hatch then a gap then the last 2 they ended up being 11 days apart thats between 1 and 7. I have never had runts I think that has something to do with good parents again. I did think that 7 eggs were to many and considered taking the last 2 eggs off her, I didn't and 6 and 7 bubs were the biggest out of them all . Very nice birds I must say. If she is still sitting on them leave them under her it is not going to matter. Keep us posted Bev.
May 9, 200520 yr Bev have you candled them to see if they are fertile? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No I havent Daz, I'll give them a while longer, i'm a bit reluctant to do too much just yet, I think I'd prefer to leave "sleeping budgies lie" so to speak (Laughing out loud). I'll post yesterdays picture on Ladys reply,, they have grown so much, & one seems to have a really large head, I'm hoping this will make for a really nice sized bird. :angel1:
May 9, 200520 yr Hoes it going Bev?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They are growing soooo much, one in particular seems as if he/she is going to have a really big head, & its eyes have opened, expect the others will be this morning also. They seem to be very demanding already & Dad is doing a fantastic job feeding them also, I think I have a top rated pair in their parenting skills (Laughing out loud), but these two were a pair I had purchased from a breeder who said he had quite a bit of success with them, he certainly wasnt wrong. I did resize this to 50% still looked too big, went back &reduced again, still looks too big on preview so I'm hoping if it is Lady you can see it before it is removed, apologies to admin. if it is.
May 10, 200520 yr Great Photo Bev but it's a bit small <{POST_SNAPBACK}> <img src="http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y117/Bevly/2005_0509BabyDay80018.jpg" alt="Image hosted by Photobucket.com"> I have tried again, lets hope tis one is the right size. I think you can see the big head on one of them in particular.
May 10, 200520 yr Hi bev, your photo wasn't showing so I fixed the link. Hope it's okay. Bev's picture: <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thank-you so much Pas, dont know how I stuffed up this time (Laughing out loud). <------ Thats for you. :(Laughing out loud):

And thank you Pass for fixing the picture because I was very not to see the picture but very when you fixed it. thanks How old are they now Bev? Is mum still sitting on the other eggs?
May 10, 200520 yr How old are they now Bev? Is mum still sitting on the other eggs? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 10 Days, & yes, Mum is still on the other 2 eggs, I'll try holding the torch up like Daz suggested, because they still appear to be white, have not gone grey at all. They are also making the little chirping sounds, & eyes are open.
May 10, 200520 yr I would suspect that if they havn't change in colour that they will sill be just yolk and the white inside. (not fertile) But for you I hope they are fertile good luck with the candleling.

(not fertile) But for you I hope they are fertile good luck with the candleling. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The other two eggs have not hatched & I dont think they will, I dont want to take them out just in case I upset things but--- have another question, as you can see by the photo, one has a lot more white on lower back than the other, is this an idication as to what colour they may grow into, and-- because both parents are predominatly (?) green, does this mean the babies will be green also, or can they "throw-back", to other colours/?
May 13, 200520 yr All the babies will be green unless both parents are split for blue, then you may get a blue baby too.
May 13, 200520 yr as rainbow said bove But i read that the colour of the baby fluff doest give an idication of colour and of cuase silly me has forgotten wich way around it is, but I think it was white for blue and grey for green. May be totally wrong so got hold out if your after a certain colour just from this.
