New Addition :)

Okay, I'm probably going to get in trouble off you guys for this :D

I had an impulse purchase today. Meet my new addition

BulaSunny2.jpg

I know I should've put it in quarantine, I did a big no no. But I was only allowed to put it in my room (i live with my parents) and I didn't see the point of putting it in a quarantine cage in the same room.

What I was fretting most was whether or not Bula would get along with it. But they had an instant connection and Bula even started playing daddy bird (regurgitating food for it), and singing which I thought was absolutely adorable B)

To me it looks like a girl. The cere is blue with a bit of white, and there is still some black on the beak :)

Heres a closer picture but with a flash. The picture above is its true colours.

All I need to do now is think of a name ^_^

OMG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ^_^

that is so cute! B)

i am very jealous, i wish i could impulse buy but, evry time i go to the pet shop

my mum is like

"no more grant, we already have a zoo at home" lol... =[

but congrats. is it a violet or cobalt??

lol I get the same from my mum XD

The top picture is its real colours, but they could very well change after she moults

I just love how Bula took to her so quickly. They are sharing a food dish and grooming each other, and Bula is still feeding her :)

And I know Dave, I've been bad. Hopefully my good luck with birds in the past lives on B)

And she has a name too. She has been dubbed Vinaka ^_^

vinaka, well thats definately different.

was this inspired by anything in particular??

i am a fan of wierd names! my two are called alfalfa and mortimer.

i am envying you, i am now starting a search for a violet hen with a white face. no other mutations.

maybe one day i will get another. sigh.

thats a very cute budgie.*ohhalpaca-boy the thing i think of when i hear mortimer is sims lol*

Yes.

'Vinaka' is Fijian for 'Thank You'. As my other budgie is 'Bula' which is fijian for 'hello/welcome/good morning etc'...i was just going with the theme

And I know Dave, I've been bad. Hopefully my good luck with birds in the past lives on

Quarantine will be a must do thing with you one day ( and should be now ) when you lose birds to illness and realise its importance as we all have and hence why we advise quarantine :(

  • 2 weeks later...

Oh I am going to say it... even if it is the same room, a seperate cage is still better than straight in together. In a seperate cage at least they don't share food and water, don't directly touch and have contact with each others droppings. It isnt perfect but still better. A great many things are spread by drinking water, droppings and feeding each other.

I have limited space at my place but I still use a seperate cage.

Sorry to do the tell you off thing but its for a good reason, your not a bad person. I just hope they are both healthy.

Ah he is cute though

yea thats an old picture  Bula had it as a toy before Vinaka moved in. He loved to sit on it lol

ooooooooooh a snuggle hut!

i wondered what that was, how cute, where did you get it from i want one!

For goodness sake, the kid got 2 budgies,

Why worry about Quarantine,I would be more concerned about that

blue fluffy thing in the cage.
