Posted May 1, 201015 yr Yesterday I went to a pet shop to look around (one of my favourite past times) and stumbled upon a cage full of budgies. I absolutely fell in love with one of the young hens in there, but I was also a little worried about a couple of the others. There were two olive cinnamons' in there that were missing their tails and an albino (can't remember if it was a hen or cock) that had missing secondary's and blood on its primary's. There was also a nest box at the bottom of the cage (there was nothing in there) Should I go back and intervene? Or am I worrying for no reason.
May 1, 201015 yr Sounds problematic, 1 nest box in a flock of budgies is going to cause trouble/fighting - which may explain the feather loss and blood. Getting rid of the nest box would be a start, some people seem to think budgies need a nest box to keep warm and sleep in...
