I have two baby budgies two weeks old in a box house that I bought at the pet store for budgies to have there babies. The mother has been caring for them completely but i notice when I look inside they are not standing yet. They are up high in the cage what do I do now. The mother for the last 2 days has been leaving her bab ies for the first time. Do I put the house on the floor and put them out.

Hi and :D

It may be that the chicks are just huddled in the corner, without pics it is hard to say if there is a problem. Moving them will not help just make sure they don't seem cold and there crops are full of food and they should be fine. But if you can get some pics someone will be able to tell you if they are healthy or not.

Cheers Jenny

Hi mcmac. Sounds pretty normal for 2 week old's they huddle together like that but they would be too young to come out of nest box? I presume that's what you mean? Mum will go back and forth to feed etc but she probably will leave them "to stretch her legs" so to speak during the day.

Leave box where it is and see that Mum and Dad are still going in to feed the chick's. They will start to poke their heads out of box etc soon.

Are they nearly feathered? If so they should be fine during day Mum will still go in at night I think. Keep check and see how you go. Post again for more help if needed. :hmm:
