Too soon to be talking success in a colony breeding situation Clancy. Heard the saying ? Dont count your chickens until they have hatched ? Talk success at the very end when you have happy healthy babies fledged with no broken eggs, budgie fights and dead chicks from invaded nests.

May 1, 201015 yr I do not judge you like that and I doubt any others are as well. Some on here have made mistakes with colony breeding and just don't want you to learn the hard way. It is your decision and if you make mistakes I'm sure you will acknowledge that we tried to help.
May 1, 201015 yr isnt colony breeding just what birds do in the wild???? it would be the same thing in thw ild if two related birds mated right?
May 1, 201015 yr In the wild you have unlimited space and breeding areas. In captivity it's a bunch of birds in the aviary with few nesting choices. The hens want the best nests so they fight.
May 2, 201015 yr Thats the mistake people make. Colony breeding is NOTHING like the wild. We shut them in, cramp them up, offer them 1-2 nesting sites each, and then leave them to fight over it. In the wild, they go where they want, when they want, with who they want. Yeah they may still fight, but thats the cock/hens fault for being stupid enough not to find their own spot :fingerscrossed:
May 2, 201015 yr I'm not judging you Clancy.....you will do what you think is right....Kaz was not judging you either, just voicing her opionon like you are, I too colony bred, it did not work out for me, I lost my hen and all the chicks...if you can do it then great but I think 99.9% of people have heartache....Kaz has helped me so much in the last 12 months, so I trust her advice 120%...Good luck mate.... May 2, 201015 yr Clancy, we are all hoping you are the exception to the rule. We all wish you the very best of success, don't think anything other than that.
May 3, 201015 yr I wish you success too clancy. Its just that your topic title clancys success with breeding indicates you have the success part already going for you. All i say is........Its too soon to be calling it successful no matter how you breed them.
