Is It A Good Idea To Take My Budgie Out Of The Aviary For A Pet?

Featured Replies

hi,

im thinking about taking one of my budgies out of the aviary to keep as a pet

it has been kept as a pet once then i put it in the big aviary with all the other

birds should i take it back out of the cage? wil it affect the bird?

it is still quite tame in the big aviary

:o

If you can't have pets inside I wouldn't bother taking it out of the aviary... unless its the bird that is sick and then I would be taking it out and putting it in a seperate cage away from the others...

If its used to a big space and you are about to put it in a smaller space it could drive the bird nuts. :o even for a little while as some do. Your decision based on the bird and how it reacts though.

thanks

mum is now going to let me keep 1 bird inside

but it has to stay in the laundry

so i will take the sick one in and do exactly what

you told me,

as for the other one i will bring it in and if it starts

acting strange i will pop it back in the aviary :o

can i ask why you are doing this? I mean, it is one thing to have a pet budgie that you keep inside and as you sit down and watch the tv, it can sit there beside you are chat away, but if you are simply bringing in a budgie to keep in the laundry? hardly seems fair to me.

I agree with Dave.

Good :) It may help as advise you better

Hayden, all Kaz asked for was a photo of your set-up so we can advise you on your thoughts as to why your bird could be sick in the first and if it is best suited that that budgie will great better indoors...

And Dave is right about just keeping the budgie in the laundry, if it is out in other areas with people than it is fine but only to stay in the laundry all day and night really isnt fair for the bird and I would suggest that it is kept outside with the others and you still get to enjoy your birds even if they are outside...

That is all we are asking... There is no need to get upset when you asked the question and we gave you our thoughts on it...

When you say the cock bird is always getting picked on, can you describe what takes place. Does he get injured or bleed?
