my best friend has a male budgie and it can talk very well,

one of my other friends has a female and it doesnt talk at all

he has been traing her for about a year now

 

i ask my best friend if the girls talk and he told me no

 

is this true??

No its not true. Girl budgies do talk. The fact that so many people automatically believe that they dont is why so many dont bother trying.

Kaz is right but males are consider better mimickers and that is why they will pick up faster. No budgie male or female is ever guaranteed to talk.

Budgies are, in so many ways the opposite of people.

 

In humans, it is the males that display a lot of sex-linked genes and often suffer as a result of it. I have that very thing in my family. In budgies it is the opposite, with females disaplying the sex linked genes, like the ino gene.

 

Now is where I get controversial

 

In humans, it is the women who talk the most. Ask any married man. In budgies, it is the male that talks the most.

 

See, humans are the reverse of the budgie is many ways -

i think i will take my male budgie out of the avary

to teach it to talk though!

My thoughts on it are that male budgies just seem to pick things up quicker and as others have said thats why alot of people don't bother with female budgies as pets...

YES! and they make just as good pets as boys, especially hand raised. i hand raised some last year and the one I kept as a pet is a hen, started talking at 2 months old and has not shut up since. She has a clear chirpy voice easy to understand she is super friendly, not too nippy, she play bites but it dosnt hurt. She plays fetch, soccer with little balls is veru affectionate loves EVERYBODY and has one vice... she masterbates with her rope swing... often lol it is quite amusing and often when she talks the most.
