Cec's Aviary Tour

Featured Replies

Well, today some of us from the MBC we special enough to be welcome with open arms to the aviary of Brenda and Cec Gearing... It was a all day trip with lunch and drinks provided and many many laughs aswell... We had a few hick-ups along the way but we got there... :D Cec had a number of beautiful healthy show budgies up for auctions (mostly Red and Blue rings, with a number of Adults available too) and his cull cage was also raided by some... Nosey people we were... :D

I was blown anyway by how many birds he had and how large the set-up was but it wasn't overly large but had everything in it and still more... It was great to see a big time breeders set-up and realise that your set-up is just as good but smaller and you can make something of this great hobby too if you put the work and effort into it...

To Brenda and Cec, you have a lovely home and family (dogs too) and thank you so much for inviting us to spend the day with you both...

And a big thank you to those who put in the effort to make it such a great day... Thumbs up to you all... B)

I purchased 3 beautiful Albino's while I was there, 2 hens and 1 cock, and I look forward to using them in my breeding room when the time comes... :) Will try get photos up soon...

Oh and anyone who missed this trip, I highly recommended you go next time around... :D

Poor Kaz, too late to back out now I'm afraid.

I am looking forward to their arrival!!

And Littlebudgie, I respectfully request you stop putting thoughts into Kaz's head about keeping the birds, or reinforcing her already wavering views about sending them over -

:laughter: :laughter: :laughter: :laughter: :laughter:

She had that thought all to herself when she sent you that message I only sat there and watched... LoL... :laughter: :laughter:

Plus I thought it would give you a reason to drop over to WA again... :laughter:

Dave wont get the birds today......we had a hiccup in the grand scheme of things. Had to race Ken to hospital as he seemed to be having a heart attack. They've kept him in and another test around 6pm will tell the story......meanwhile he is drugged to the gills and happy and resting.

To make it fair, everyone name was put into a icecream bucket and one by one names were pulled out so it was first in best dressed... I was 7 out of 9... We all got to look at the birds first together and pick who we wanted and hope noone else wanted it too...

Yep 3 Albino's... Cec was saying he had bred alot this season that is why he had a few up, I think 10 albinos were up for sale... 28 birds in total only 3 didn't sell I think... I was looking for a Grey of some sort to start a nice Grey line and than Albino's but Kaz talked me into Albino's as I may never get another chances to get some of Cec's Albinos... :D

I thought the Red ring was pretty good too and all 3 are pretty clean too, of markings... The cock will need show training if I was him at shows as he spent alot of the time run across the bottom of the show cage only at the last minute did he stand on the perch for me to see him better... But I'm sure they'll all show some good show qualities as they grow older... :D

Are you going to use the Dark Greens in your Greywings Kaz...?

FREE Lutino ? ...........you mean ços she didnt have a price on for a little while :hap:

The dark greens have to be NOT split cinnamon or opaline to be used with my greywings so likely not. One of the dark greens has already paired up with the lute hen in the holding cage.

Cec also said the other dark green is either split greywing or recessive pied. The record card couldnt be found at the time.
