Posted April 9, 201015 yr One of the hardest things to clean up in the aviary is those feathers that stick to the aviary wire. One way to deal with them is to burn them off. Here is what you need.... http://www.hardwaredelivered.com.au/store/...iller-Wand.html Its a gas torch wand section which is attached to butane gas cannisters. Mostly if you shop around the hardware stores you will find them for $50 and the gas cannisters come in packs of four for around $7 as pack. Designed for killing weeds so you have an excuse to buy it for home BUT use it for the aviary too Edited April 9, 201015 yr by KAZ

April 9, 201015 yr The vac cleaner with the brush head on, will do the job,if you feel that the blow torch, is a bit drastic,I know which one is the easest, the flame.
April 9, 201015 yr Author The vac cleaner with the brush head on,will do the job,if you feel that the blow torch, is a bit drastic,I know which one is the easest, the flame. Yeah The vacuum can wrap the feather around the wire worse than it is, so I am sure I will go the gas torch from now on...........It was suggested to me by at least 2-3 others and now I know the right torch head to get I will be racing off to get one. I have feathers everywhere in my aviary I was told after I did my aviary that there was a better wire that made less feathers stick. Pity I didnt know that first

April 9, 201015 yr You could always pick them off the wire one by one... blowing them to cinders is a better idea. Wouldn't you have to remove the budgies before? In case they got in the way.

My aviary is huge.........they wont get in the way................ and picking them off the wire, one by one, in a huge aviary is totally out of the question

April 10, 201015 yr Sounds like fun... but my only concern would be if it weaken the wire over time, causing damage and breakage?

April 10, 201015 yr Author Sounds like fun... but my only concern would be if it weaken the wire over time, causing damage and breakage? I would think it might do if the wire was that thin guage stuff that hardware stores sell but I chose a tougher thicker quality wire, and other breeders who have used this longer term have had no issues. The flame is pased quickly around not building up too much heat in one spot at one time. Edited April 12, 201015 yr by KAZ
