Pay up Dave

Can I have my $20 now?

The law states that as an adult I am not allowed to enter into legally binding contracts or even bets with minors or children, so no, no money until you grow up. Sorry. :)

Doesn't that mean that by laying the bet, you already broke the law? ( :) )

No, the contract is not legally binding as minors must have parental approval in writing at the time of entering into a legally binding contract. As Ratzy is still a child and she did not provide written parental proof, there was no legally binding agreement.

So the chance of getting the money, absolutely zero!!!!!!!!!!! :P

How about you gift her a crop needle that she badly needs then :D

Who you calling a child :) ? I belive someone should not be judged on their age, considering 12 is pre-teen, NOT child ( joking) ;P

Sorry Squeak. 12 is a child. You can call it pre teen if you like. I am certainly not using the term pre in relation to me as that would make me a pre-pensioner

Nah, I will drop it for now, BUT, when I'm legally adult in... 6 years I expect my $20!!!

Ummm... what do I do now? Is he a new mutation or similar?

UPDATE: He lost another green tail feather today. His tail, if possible, seems to be more vibrantly green than before. He has been mating with Lexi this morning. Lexi wants to nest in the food dish ( uh uh, sorry Lex ).

If the green tail is some kind of new mutation, then you would have to do test breeding to find out if it is dominant or recessive. Also, in cases like this, sometimes inbreeding is called for, to see if you can bring the mutation out again. For instance breeding him back to his mother, or maybe to his sister, because they are the ones most likely to also carry the gene. Also, possibly trying the original parents to each other again, to see if any more like him pop out. If you got another one, and it was a girl, then you would breed both of the green tails to each other.

It would be quite an undertaking, because you would want to keep all the offspring, and do several pairings to build up your "collection" of the gene and of potential carriers. Unless your parents wanted to jump on board and go into budgie breeding with you in a big way, the best route may be to give/sell the green tail bird and his parents and siblings to a more experienced breeder, if there was someone who wanted to run with this.

But since these are your pets and you love them, you could just dabble around with it a little bit. You may or may not ever get another green tail.

I think the green tail is really cool, though!

can we see new pics oh and is the birds oldenough to be mateing yet as in should you not for the hens sake move her for her innocence  and safety of becomming egg bound from producing eggs to young

if shes nesting in feeder she will start to lay

I'll get some new pics today, GB. They aren't old enough to breed yet so I am thinking of changing the feeders. She seems to have stopped anyway now. Thanks, Finnie.

Hey Ratzy how are you ? do you remember me ? we talked about your green tail budgie awhile ago, i am just checking how is the bird and did you try to let it mate or not yet? strangely i lost your mail which i contacted you before on it, please re send it to me if possible , let your bird breed budgie get mature after about three months!

Yes, I remember! My computer has been changed for a new one ( it had cracks ) so I don't have my email. The tail is still green, but he's only 10 months old, is that too young to breed?

What???? There have been girls get pregnant at 12... Doesn't make it ethical!!!

he's only 10 months old, is that too young to breed?

A ten month old male can breed but may not support his hen in all ways necessary.

Some ten month olds do well and others dont.

let your bird breed budgie get mature after about three months!

Please clarify what you are saying

He's 11 months now, still green and going strong. He's in condition and so is Lexi, they have been mating a lot lol.

I don't know really, would one month make a difference? Should I?

If lexi is in condition, I think go for it! I personally think he will have matured enough by now, I have bred birds at 10 months (only cocks though)
