One sibling has been sold, but I can keep the others, though my brother gets one. It could be a mutation, or it could just moult out.

Faded is a mutation in budgie, but i don't know whether it have a green tail or not , i don't think i saw it in real before, but i think we are dealing with a mutation here, just keep the bird safe, and if the others are his siblings keep them as well, maybe they are split to it!

Faded seems to be about body colour HERE >>>>>>> http://www.budgerigars.co.uk/rare/faded.html

I've never heard of the faded before. I don't think they are. What is wrong with pink legs.

the wild color don't have a pink legs, the wild color have gray legs!

I still believe its a mutation, and test mating is a must.

All of them have pink legs except for the father. Could it be rec pied going through the family? I think rec pieds have pink legs. I'm confused with my mauve chick as well. She has a navy blue tail with a few bands of lighter colour, hardly noticeable, and grey cheek patches.

I'll be right onto it! Taken just now. Some are a bit blurry. Some I used the flash and some are natural to show different lights. Oh, and yes he does have his wings clipped, but that doesn't matter because both Marigold and Skye have the same pattern, body colour through the flights.

pictures NOT edited to size before posting so changed to links

Why do you leave the couple of extra feathers when you do the wing clip ? Easier for them to get caught up and break and not necessary to clip in this way.

Agreed. I cringe when I see that clipping style - I know for a fact the teach that style in veterinary schools as I know some vet students and they asked why I dont clip my birds that way. Lets just say I had some very convincing reasons they hadnt even heard about and their defense was "but it makes the wing look longer, more natural".

"but it makes the wing look longer, more natural"
:) :) not clipped would make it look longer and more natural B)

that clip just looks foolish and weird. and creates a way of getting caught up.

Ratzy is this bird clipped because you are trying to tame it ?

No..... Dad got anxious because my cockatiel flew away and wanted to clip them. He was shown how to clip by someone who owns a budgie. I will tell him that.

It's been a long while since I've caught up on this forum but this has been exciting reading through this morning....very exciting indeed Ratzy. I think I read that they had started moulting...how far into it are they now?

Only just started I think.... I am starting to see pin feathers and a lot of downy feathers at the bottom of the cage.

Chubba Chubs has moulted his tail! I found some of the tail feathers when I cleaned the cage today. The new tail feathers are green!

hey to be the pessimist, but I will lay $20 that the tail will fall out it's first moult and it will grow a normal tail feather, ending all the speculation -

Can I have my $20 now?

The law states that as an adult I am not allowed to enter into legally binding contracts or even bets with minors or children, so no, no money until you grow up. Sorry.
