April 8, 201015 yr Author Great! Hope it isn't reccessive else I may have some trouble breeding. I wonder if Skye and Marigold will have another green tail? I may have to keep it, was going to sell it. Is there a breeder near me who would like him?
April 8, 201015 yr Heres what you don't want to do: Â Sell any babies or parents... They may come in very handy...
April 8, 201015 yr very interesting... i wonder if its a melanistic spangle... would be interesting to see how it looks after a moult or two
April 8, 201015 yr Author I thought one or more parent had to be spangle? And the tails are white or yellow? Edited April 8, 201015 yr by Ratzy
April 8, 201015 yr not sure. they are white on a blue bird, so they are probably yellow on a green bird too.. but the tail looks spangle... to me with the black tip
April 8, 201015 yr Author Hmmm. The opaline has a weird looking tail too. I need to check it when I get home. Do you have a picture to compare it to?Hmmm. The opaline has a weird looking tail too. I need to check it when I get home. Do you have a picture to compare it to?
April 8, 201015 yr check out this PDF ----> Melanistic Spangles  and this thread http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/lofive...php/t15339.html  some of mine... it is suspected that their dad is a melanisitc spangle http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....p;hl=melanistic Edited April 8, 201015 yr by **Liv**
April 8, 201015 yr hey to be the pessimist, but I will lay $20 that the tail will fall out it's first moult and it will grow a normal tail feather, ending all the speculation -
April 8, 201015 yr its a waiting game for now. yes, it is very unusual to have a budgie with a green tail like that so please hold onto that bird and some of its relatives until we know what is happening with it. it may be nothing, or it may be quite special
April 8, 201015 yr Heres what you don't want to do:Â Sell any babies or parents... They may come in very handy... Â Â DONT SELL ANY CHICKS OR MUM AND DAD Â AND TALK TO CLEARWING OR RIP IF ITS NEW MUTATION YOU HAVE SOME FUNN AHEAD OF YOU FINDING THIS OUT AND LOTS OF EXPERIMENTAL BREEDING TO BRING OUT THE GENETIC THATS HIDDIN TO REZULT IN THIS GREEN TAIL Â Â IF ITS NOT ONE OF THE OTHER THINGS Â I HAD A BIRD THAT HAD WHITE FACED CHICKS THATAFTER FIRST MOULT CHANGED YELLOW I WAS TOLD BY BREEDER FROM CLUB NOT TO SELL OR GET RID OF ANY CHICKS BUT AS I WAS NOT BOTHERED ABOUT FINDING A NEW MUTATION I PASSED THE JOB ON TO SOMEONE ELSE TO HAVE FUN WITH
April 8, 201015 yr yes but you need the brothers and sisters also to truley find out if its a new mutation
