I originally thought my eldest chick was a violet, because of the violet coloured tail, then I thought she was a mauve, because she looked grey and her parents don't have any grey that I'm aware of, but I just read that mauves have blue cheek patches and her's are grey. SO now I'm really confused.

If you could clear that up I'd be happier. Thanks in advance.

going to need a clear shot mate but it looks like their almostblack which indicates mauve when chick they shall go purple latter

Right...... I have issues with my camera so thats going to be difficult.

Can you get photo's of them out of the nestbox?

 

Thats the biggest problem we don't see enough of the birds to make a call one way or another.

poor photos make analysis difficult as well
