Posted March 21, 201015 yr thought I would start a breeding journal to share some pictures with you all of the pairs that I have put together this week
March 22, 201015 yr looking forward to reading the progress jlee. Do you know the background of your birds? Just curious to know what you are expecting out of the pairs, like if the first green is split for blue or are you just hoping for some grey greens? etc. etc. as a beginner it would be great to understand the pricess different people go through when pairing up...
March 22, 201015 yr Author Hi JB I too am just learning I have only been breeding budgies for a couple of years mainly pets but this lot is my first step to getting into the show ring and I am lucky enough to know the background on them, the green you enquired about is not split blue, I am looking forward to seeing the babies from these pairings and getting closer to breeding my first budgie show entry

April 19, 201015 yr You have some really nice birds there and very fertile by the sound of it I'm justing getting into breeding show budgies myself, how long have you had them together before they bred? Geoff
April 20, 201015 yr Author Hi Geoff they were put in the breeding cages on the 13th March, it probably took them two weeks to get use to each other and start checking out the nest boxes and laying , it has been about a month now from pairing up till the first chicks hatched, some pairs are still laying eggs, the first egg was laid on the 27th March, I still have 4 nests that have no eggs so I am thinking about splitting those pairs up and trying again with different partners, hope that helps you
