Posted March 21, 201015 yr I have some breeding cabinets that have been using but i felt that they were too small. When the babies left the nest there was not enough room for them on the floor. So i have decided to join 2 lots of cabinets together and cut a hole between the 2 to make them wider. Now i am wondering if they are too big, will the female have more room to get away from the male and will it result in taking longer for them to bond? should i put a divider up in the middle until the babies leave the nest?
March 21, 201015 yr Author Looks great. Where's the entry hole on the nest box? The nest boxs are put in upside down so the pairs cannot get into them. I like to give the pairs a couple of weeks together to bond before i introduce the nestbox.
March 21, 201015 yr If you had put the mesurments of the cage,it would of been easy to say if they are to small.By the look of the picture,I would think they wood be okay as breeding cages. If you are concered they are to small, move the breeding box to the out side of the cage & that way they will be okay.
March 21, 201015 yr I think they are great Deb. They are not too large. In an ideal world, every breeding cage would be that space. Consider in the wild, there is plenty of room to "get away" and yet life still finds a way. Do not worry yourself, they look great.
March 21, 201015 yr Agree with dave, they look great! If you've got the space for them and you don't want double the breeding pairs they are perfect! I like a lot!
March 21, 201015 yr Author Thanks everyone, i know i have room for less pairs now but i really wanted them to have more space. The pairs i have put in are settling in very well.
March 21, 201015 yr Looks great Deb, I suppose a bit later you could slip a divider in between and have a ready made kindy cage for chicks? If Mum And Dad have second round.
