Pairs Settling Down After Introduction To Breeding Cage

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

Is it normal for pairs to be a bit skittish and fidgety after being introduced to a breeding cage? It's been 3 days and the pairs just hop from perch to perch, pacing backwards and forwards and the like. Is there anything I can do to help them settle down? Do you think they will eventually warm to the task at hand?

Any bird taken from a large space to a small space will do that .............what is their view and location ?

They are in a nicely protected spot under the verandah, against a brick wall. They get some sunlight from the overhead clear roof sheets.

Here are a couple of shots of my setup...

If they can see the aviary birds it may be a distraction. Hearing them is good :D

By the way.............did you know that mice can run up and down bricks ?

They can probably get a glimpse of my loverbird aviary about 10 metres away. Mice hey? No way. I have the best mouse catcher in town. She gets at least 1 a week. I've never seen one near the birds.

So is my setup okay you think?

What about the issue of the birds settling down? Anything I can do?
