Show Breeder Levels _ Novice, Intermediate, Open

It seems the levels we work through in showing budgies ( in each state of Australia ) varies in how we move through, advance, get promoted etc.

Why is there such a variance and how does it work in your state ?

Hi Kaz, I know this is an old thread, but noticed it had little reponse. So here is the Victorian story. At the time of the first importation of budgerigars from England, we in Victoria only had Beginner, Intermediate and open. This created a problem at shows as those who could afford to import birds won everything in open, leaving many well established and respected breeders pondering their future in the hobby. So as I was BCV president at the time I got to gether with Col Flanagan who was BCV secretary and we created the Champion breeder class and the points system, Thereby allowing those who had imported to progress to champion status and those who hadn't could still compete in Open section. It was a way of protecting the hobby in the early stages of importation and I believe it still works well today, but maybe im biased. Cheer Clearwing

At one time here in WA there was a Beginner class.

Must admit I'd love to see a junior class in Victoria again Cheers Clearwing

SA has a junior class, novice, intermediate and open...

its all about to chance here I believe, with people who don't show enough getting put down into the previous status, until they are back in novice.... i think this is good to keep the open breeders on their toes.

Here in SA there are very few in intermediate and junior.

SWBC did try Champion class here for a while but there are not enough showing people to really support it and it was scrapped within the year.

Here in the 500point state,we have,beginner,intermediate,open & champion.

To be moved up to Champion status, you have to auumlate 60 points,in 3 years, then

in champion you have 3years to acumlate 60 points & then each year after that, you drop off

off the 1st years points, but still have to have to carry 60 points in to the next year.

So you have to be on your game,to keep your points up
