Posted March 18, 201015 yr Hi folks, this might be a dumb question but what are your thoughts on crossing blues to greens? Is there a need for it and when would you do it? The only reason I can think of is to introduce a certain feature to a green line. You wouldn't do it for colour as blue is recessive to green. Cheers.
March 18, 201015 yr A show breeder or two I know always uses blues to their greens. In that way he ends up with green that are split blue. If nothing else it means your cull birds are more saleable as its real hard to sell of your green birds that dont cut it as a show budgie. You can always sell blue birds. March 20, 201015 yr Green being the origianl mutation will not really get any benefit from the input of blues. The blue bird is simply a green bird with a non functional Psittacine yellow gene.
