Hi Nate and welcome :bump:

Considering you live in perth as I do, the hot weather we have had lately may play a part in it.

If you can post photos of your setup we may also be able to advise you.

I have a friend across the road that has experience with budgie breeding, and she said they were, they have dry brown cares and the boys have light blue

Dry brown is past breeding condition

Light blue is either a male not in breeding condition or a female out of breeding condition. Is the pale blue ceres with white at all ?

What is the correct cere colour for breeding?

All the breeders I`ve met said that dry brown is correct.

Medium brown, not dark brown and flaky. Medium brown gives them time to see through the whole part of mating, eggs and babies without going out of condition. Dark brown and flaky is just past or well into going of the boil and at the stage soon where the dark flaky peels away to reveal the white/blue of a hen not in breeding coindition.

I have two of those colour, two of my females and they are both paired but are not interested in breeding

I have had two of mine that are paired die after I brought them from a breeder who was not looking after his birds and they all looked pritty bad

First thing I notice is how close and stacked the nestboxes are............

Way too close and there will be territorial fights over anyone of the females claiming and keeping a box.

How old are your budgies ? Two that I can seem to be young. You say they are club rung budgies....can you get the colour band info and the codes off them and let us know.

and the blue budgie at the nestbox is missing flightss........either in the middle of moulting or french moult survivor. If moulting it shouldnt be breeding.

What is in the black basket hanging off the back wall ?

i was going to say that thoughs breeding boxes are a dezaster waitingto happen

you have been blessed that they have not breed yet

first i would put all boxes at same hight all acrossed the top one foot from roof as so they dont get to hot

and one to one and a half feet away friom each other on same leavel

this way your birds will not fight they will choose a box and stick with it they will sit with out feeling paranoyed that the hen next door wont hassle them and the cocks will be more inclind to stick closser to their own hen and box

i can not comment on age of birds as cant see them close but i will say if their are in a collany type set up and not breeding

mabe they know themselfs that things ant right for them

birds are fussy things need to be how they like it

club rung birds are not as premiscuos in the aviry as pets are in collany atmisfear

they got pleanty of freash food and water they will with the boxes placed right breed i do know now is not breeding time its almost april time for a moult :P

mabe take boxes out for a bit and replace when birds have done their next moult but replace as i stated you wont get as much tention and better sucsess

good luck your birds will breed when right for them at moment boxes must just be another part of the senery

One of them looks very young I think. We really aren't trying to be mean or boss you around we are just trying to help out there mate. I agree that the nest boxes are tooo close. Nice birds there.

would they be the what looks like a yf grey and the rec pied and grey green cin cause the way they all are sitting they would be my guess for younger birds but as i said i cant see them do they have white iris rings bar of course the rec pied :P

Thankyou all of you for your replies.

The pied and the light green clear winged are babies, the Grey and colbolt blue are brothers and about 2 years, the cinnamon is

3 years and the sky blue in 3years - When I brought these birds I was told there all healthy to breed, I guess the breeder didn`t

know to much about budgie breeding.

I will take out the boxes and try again later.

Witch one looked like it had french mult

Thanks

Sorry that budgie on the box (sky blue) had his wings clipped as he was in a cage and there still growing but he can fly no problem. Gotcha about the blue budgie

Two pairs in a cage is still colony breeding and the hardest way to breed budgies. Check their cere colour and also if they are moulting. Timing may all be off.

Double check all your budgies for real breeding condition ( not dark brown and flaky........lighter brown to medium ) and double check their ages.

PM.............you got a how to use the forum email when you joined....you need to go back and read it all.
