Posted March 5, 201015 yr Hi all, today I noticed my budgie has been scratching his bottom almost constantly with his feet and mouth. He's all puffed up and it looks very uncomfortable.. Is this something normal that happens? I'm not too sure how long I've had him :hmm: but it hasn't been a year. About a month ago I got a new baby, they've been sharing food and kisses but the baby seems healthy. I'd really appreciate some help with this.. I love my birdy
March 5, 201015 yr Hi LisaMarie and welcome.... I would seperate them and put the unwell fellow in another room covered with a heat lamp for warmth.... Have they been wormed in the last few months? Whats the droppings like? Edited March 5, 201015 yr by anne101
March 5, 201015 yr I agree with Anne. And since your original budgie was fine until you introduced the baby I would suggest ( as its seems there was no quarantine ) that maybe the baby budgie has introduced a health issue to the original budgie......possibly worms or something else. March 5, 201015 yr Author Hmm he's not going to like that! He's very sociable. I'll separate them and get the worming drops I've seen in the pet shop. His poo is normal, a little bit wet if anything.

NO...........dont guess as to what the issue is and dont buy the meds from the petshop. They will both need treating IF its worms BUT you dont self diagnose either. Sick budgies must be seperated from others to be treated for whatever ails them. Takie a good look in our FAQ section and do some reading especially on quarantine which most people dont know about when they first start out, and when no quarantine is implemented that is when diseases or health conditions come into play. Try not to rely on any advice or meds from a petshop. They would be guessing and also just keen to sell you products with no real knowledge to be advising. However if worming needs to be done, then the worming meds from the petshop would be fine and BOTH need to be done not just one of them. :hmm: Edited March 5, 201015 yr by KAZ
