!budgie Artwork!

Hi Guys.

My daughter just started into the hobby of painting budgies...but she doesnt know how much to sell her pictures for?

If i post one could you roughly tell me how much you could sell them for, or how much you personally would buy it for, if you wanted to buy one?

A good prepared canvas costs $10+ and then their is the time, effort and the paint.

The following picture is of an Opaline-pied in Gum tree, hanging off branch, dimension W=205mm L=250mm

budgie3-1.jpg

She can also paint other birds, such as lovebirds, cockatiels etc. and custom paint pictures

And budgie bags, dimesions 400mm x 400mm $12 each

Cheers guys would be appreciated

The quality and eye for details is very good... as to prices ??? I don't know sorry.

They are GOOD! I'm not much of an art collector so I can't really guess at a price... Try going to arts and craft stalls at markets and see how much things similar are going for...

wow thats really nice

i really like the bag, how did she do that? did she paint it on the bag?

or is it a transfer?

tell her she is really clever from alpaca-boy! =]

oh and my suggestion for the painting....

it costs 10 dollars for the canvas

she wants to make some profit

and she has put alot of work in to it

but on the other hand although their are lots of budgie breeders around here

there are not such high concentrations of budgie lovers in the public

and it may be hard to sell if not at the right price

so i guess it depends on where you are selling!

for a market i would say- $25-30 (as an impulse buy)

for a budgie lover who really desires these sort of things i would go a little higher

maybe $30-35 (as they would be going out of ntheir way to find budgie art)

try ebay, or even here!! or a local market?

hope this helps

givin the fact that its abstract in a sense and the fact that

these days your costs of paints and canvas is not much specially if acrylic i would say she could only get minimal back for her time and effort

how ever if she was to paint them

and frame them and then have a small open showing introducing herself to the art world she would be able to put much better well deserved price on them

their isnt really alot of depth to the painting bar the budgie

having depth in the branches leaves extra would make the painting more visibly interesting and give a more over all desire to want to have the picture hanging on your wall

as it is although very good and well detailed to be honest as an artist myself for many years and having sold pictures for over the well excepted price one would expect.

you could not ask more than mabe 15 dollors for that painting as the perchus ee would need to frame the work which would cost them more than the peace its self

on a more helpful note the tote bag is a much better and easyer way to make a dollor back and have your work viewed and get known

you could sell these provided they were sealed properly (as in water proof and fade proof for 20 to 25 dollars and when buying the bags in bulk you could actually bring the price down to around 15 dollars which i would pay for one like that provided it came water proof washable :)

ps im not being critical just trying to give you an idea art isnt easy to sell its something you do as you injoy it

then collect it up display it and have for sale at the opening night

where 90 percent will be sold with in 3 hours at a price worth your efforts

i would get a cope write on her bags also

the canvas is unframable as it is 4 cm thick( as its not an al-cheapo)but the edge is painted so it doesnt look infinished.

the bags are washable, drycleanable, ironable etc and the picture will NOT come off but do not see the point charging $25 for a thin tote type bag when you could buy one for $2 lol

 cheers Jess

Yeh sure no worries:)

I'm no help with costs sorry, but they look great! Maybe you could take requests. People could send you photos and you could use them for reference.

i did not mean to afend you and even so if the canvas is that thick (which it does not look in the picture but it is a picture ) although you can see she has sealed it around a painting is only what the buyer or yourself make it worth

i know the bags are cheep but again you asked a opinion i gave mine

its not just a tote bag its your daughters personal expression and worth more than 2 dollors

maybe the bags worth two dollars but in realization your daughters time and effort is worth more

as i said 15 dollars even 10 if the cost for making them is only two dollars but im guessing the cost if drycleanable and ironable with out picture cumming off is of any good quality substance then it would have cost more than just the price of the bag unless your printing them on from a computer in which case the ink still costs or the iron on trance fer cost in its self

if theirs no point in charging more than two dollars i fail to see why you asked opinion and didnt just say tote bags two dollars each for order :raincloud:

She didnt exactly say that GB

There seems to be some confusion about the differences between initial materials costs incurred plus additional time and effort and eventual pricing....thats all :(.

yes i agree

and all i was trying to say was for her efforts dont let her cut herself short two many artistes do it myself being one

reason in my eye is as i belive if i have a tallent others may not why charge high prices for a gift i got for free

They are great! I love the bag!

I recommend placing them on ebay with a basic starting price, and see how much they go for - that way, you can see what members of the public/people interstate/overseas will pay :raincloud: OR try weekend markets ooh AND maybe take them along to budgie clubs that you're a member of and display them, and get some interest in them that way

I have been doing drawings and paintings too, late at night when I can't sleep. Makes me relaxed and tired

Good Idea about ebay ^_^

PS we already got a couple of orders at the budgie club by seeing them there :(

I have this bag! And so do lots of people from university.

It costs $2 from xxxxxxxx with just the black design. Is that where she bought it from?

It might be a good way for her to make some money (buy lots that cheap and then resell them painted like that?) Although I don't know if this is allowed, as xxxxxxxxx have likely claimed the image as theirs (I also have it on a purple t-shirt from xxxxxxxxx !!!)

I am sure she could get away with selling them herself through small outlets like clubs and among her friends, but yeah... if you were to do the selling over eBay or something like that then you might get in trouble.

Did she mention that she bought the bag already with the budgie drawn on?

after working at xxxxxxxxxxxx as a manager for 1.5 years they budgie on the bag was my idea, as they had printed budgies on t-shirts. the only thing is xxxxxxxxx didnt copyright it because they didnt know whos rights it belonged too. so i thought what the heck-my idea- my bag, if you have noticed though xxxxxxx do "borrow" from other companies, they sold "lone ranger" and "superman" tees in the kids stored which were an EXACT print to the t-shirts in big w which were on sale 2 months previous. they also got sewed for borrowing designs from just jeans lol.

also their charity bags DO NOT go to charity, 80 profit to xxxxxx and the rest to pay for the bag.

lol

cheers guys :(

well then thats a coincidence then isnt it lucky for you it was your design to begin with but do you have proof as these days its hard to prove things like this

personally i thought your daughter was clever to of painted these bags

its a bit miss leading saying she did then saying she brought and painted them for resale then claiming you actually designed it

if i was you i think id just stick to selling to fam and friends and through club as so you dont get into any legal trouble yourself

as for charity bags and XXXXXXX not paying any moneys to

charity well i think you will find some amout even if only 10 cents would have to make it their as these contracts are very binding and you can not get around not coffing up the moneys to these charity

as a manager their for that long you yourself were illegally acting in a deceiving manner

and i dont want to hear the you would if it ment your job thing as you dont know me and i would have had them looked into weather it meant my job or not as thats false promotion to sell items

Before we get the site closed down before ***** launches legal proceedings against the website for defamation I would recommend that we don't go talking trash about major corporations... The same rules that apply to pet shops apply to any major corporation... don't bag them on the web site please...

P.S. I'm not a moderator so if I'm out of line please publicly scold me...
