Posted March 1, 201015 yr You like the design? Thanks I'm quite proud of it myself. Whoops I forgot the pics of the aviary from you haha I'm very much looking forward to it Thanks so so much for it! Can't wait to set it all up. Hi Amy This is my first post having just joined the forum. Also Its my first adventure into keeping birds!! Ive got a secondhand aviary which I'm modifying to suit a particular position. I wondered if I could a ask a couple of general questions. Did you make the aviary yourselves. I need to buy the metal sections that are shown on yours. Any ideas where I can get them in Pert? Also will you have a base other then the pavers? I was going to put a galv sheet in the bottom mine. Ive seen some aviaries that have a mesh on the floor to let droppings through, I could do this and have a slide out tray below the mesh fo cleaning. What do you think? My aviary will be 2800L x 2000h x 1000deep, Colourbond construction as yours. thanks Mark
March 1, 201015 yr Amy bought that aviary from another forum member. Have you checked the quokka for second hand aviaries ? Sometimes buying a garden shed and converting it is cheaper than buying an aviary too. Welcome to our forum
March 1, 201015 yr Amy do you know what brand that aviary is? It looks like a great one, and will incorporate into your dream plans well. Look forward to seeing it fill up with budgies What are your plans for both flights at this stage? Are you planning on breeding in one and having non breeders in the other, or will you be breeding elsewhere and seperating your birds male/female or young/old? Edited March 1, 201015 yr by JimmyBanks

I have seen panels in the Bird and Fish Place in Wattle Grove, and you can get the mesh and metal frame work from places like Bunnings. HOWEVER - I found it to be cheaper to buy one prefabricated and modify it or ideally a shed and modify it - there weren't any sheds around in my price range. I don't have pavers underneath mine - just a concrete pad, but I want to change that as it is very uneven and I can guarantee rain will come in underneath. I'm looking at placing 60cmx60cm pavers ontop of the concrete (dumb i know) so when water does trickle underneath - the water goes straight under the pavers rather than on the ground where the birds can get to it. I'm not sure a slide out tray would be easy to deal with would it? Pulling out 2.8m of metal doesn't sound easy and convenient to me. BUT nothing saying you can't try and tell us how it goes It may work really well. Do you have a picture of where you're looking at placing the aviary? Perth Gumtree is a great website that has heaps of aviaries on it. That's where I purchased this one from. It's 2670L Including safety area) x1900Hx1900D Which I am now modifying to become an "L" shaped aviary (I have a second aviary to attach to it) and the 90 degree right angle section will be my birdroom :raincloud: To understand better, go through my aviary thread JimmyBanks, sorry I don't know what the aviary brand is, though I can find out for you So I don't hijack Marks thread, I'll answer your other questions on my thread
March 4, 201015 yr Mark, here is a website I was referred to about the panels and aviaries - hope this helps. Helps if I put the link in doesnt it? http://www.kinsonproducts.com.au/products....7df47ae19d0e5c3 Edited March 4, 201015 yr by Amy S
