Posted February 19, 201015 yr Just wanted to know if it's safe to feed bean sprouts to budgies>>>>> Can't find it anywhere
February 19, 201015 yr I have often wondered the same thing so I'll be looking forward to the answers. I can't see why not but perhaps not too much in terms of nutritional value...but then they are sprouted seeds... :sadsorry:
February 19, 201015 yr I have always included mung bean sprouts (well just sprouted seeds/beans) into my soft food. My birds love them and they provide a good protein source. Edited February 19, 201015 yr by nubbly5
February 19, 201015 yr All good, but smell them as sprouts not done properly or stale will have a sour mouldy type smell. an article on sprouting seeds http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....sprouting+seeds Edited February 19, 201015 yr by KAZ
February 25, 201015 yr Bean sprouts are great for birds, they provide an extra source of water content to those who don't drink frequently. They are also an excellent source of protein (amino acids) as well as vitamins & minerals. As pointed out mouldy ones are not good! Mung beans are a favourite but with my smaller birds I have to choose smaller seeds or lentils and alfalfa.
