Posted February 16, 201015 yr hi all just wondering if i was to get a df spangled albino how would i tell or couldnt i ?????????????? would its eyes be red or would they be black ???? cheers gb
February 16, 201015 yr The albino would mask all the DF spangle including the eyes. you wouldn't know untill you breed her to a normal cock and only produce spangle chicks. Edited February 16, 201015 yr by **Liv**
March 10, 201015 yr Author okay so if i breed a albino masking df spangle would it be more inclined to have suffusion if i breed two cin grey spangles and got a df spangle in white masking cinnamon then bred the cin df spangle hen to a albino cock resulting in spangled hens and spangled cocks split albino then put the spangled cock split albino to a albino hen masking spangle and cinnamon what are my chances of breeding a df spangled grey cinnamon bird masked by albino ...anyone
March 10, 201015 yr I doubt there would be more suffusion in an albino masking DF spangle. Albino removes body colour to nil (in most cases) and DF spangle reduces body colour to close to nil. Putting the albino gene on top of an already diluted body colour you would assume the albino to have less chance of suffusion if it were masking DF spangle. Only breeding will tell. Well 50% chance of Cinnamon Ino (Lacewings........?) - 25% cocks & 25% hens. Of which there is a 25% of them being DF spangle on top of that. Edited March 10, 201015 yr by nubbly5

March 10, 201015 yr I don't understand your reasoning, I believe Albino is a sex linked variety, therefore the hens are not split for anything and are not marsking anything they are just Albino hens.
March 10, 201015 yr Author I don't understand your reasoning, I believe Albino is a sex linked variety, therefore the hens are not split for anything and are not marsking anything they are just Albino hens. yes sex linked but they still mask what ever variety they are breed from eg df cobalt dom pied hen with albino cock masking lets say masking skyblue opaline /cinnamon the out come for this pairing could be all chicks will be domanant pied all hens will be opaline but some hens could be cinnamon opalines cocks could be normals or albinos all cocks will be split albino and 25 percent chance / to opaline and same with the possablity of being split to cinnamon 25 percent chance chicks could be sky cobalt or if violet modifier is in their inheritance you could get violet or sky violet chicks the thing im trying to work out to do is breed two albinos from different lines in grey both masking df spangle and Opaline a hen and a cock then breeding these to together to get 100 percent albino masking df spangle opaline chicks why cause i can and as i think they would be so very white and pretty its just to breed them i got to work out my best chance but thats where im not to good at things my mind fails me  so i thought id cheat and ask you guys
March 10, 201015 yr I was about to say why are you so intent on having DF Spangle Albino's but you just answered that with 'Cos I Can' All I'd be careful about is not letting this side project (if you consider this the side project) slow down your progress as far as breeding good show birds is concerned. Which one is your priority, breeding good show budgies, or breeding Albinos masking DF Spangle?

Which one is your priority, breeding good show budgies, or breeding Albinos masking DF Spangle? thanks for your concern jimmy banks but im into breeding birds all round the table im still intent on breeding nice pets for people of varying colors and mutations as i really love being able to sell people beautiful healthy birds at half or even 1 third of the price you would pay in pet store as for showing my birds are few years from any shows although i have breed some very useful chicks last round im breeding hens this year for myself and next so showing a fare way off besides if i can work on breeding albino masking df spangle opaline then i may have a chance at getting a good big board albino with nice feather and no suffusion  what so ever i am very serious when it comes to my dream of show birds and breeding winners and nice birds with quality but im very happy to take the long slow road to success rather than a few fry pan chicks so to speak
