Russel Wolf's long-term forecast on the day helped me decide to put everyone on Doxy but it was your posts that prompted me to do it then and there .... I was cooking our evening meal at the time, I find I have to step aside and do something totally different for it all to sink in and put 2 and 2 together.

 

As a result I only lost the Greygreen hen ... it could have been so much worse.

id personally see their course out then re enter the flock with them as not to take chance of exposure to any young birds weather all birds are being treated or not id still seperatly treat these four

I hear you GB. However, when I said everyone was being treated with the Doxy it of course included the 4 inside and the 2 aviaries. The prescribed treatment is 6 weeks of Doxy, "shortly" means soon, ie. maybe after a full week, maybe 2.

I would actually keeps those birds in side isolated for longer just incase, but that's just me Younger birds don't have the immunity that older birds have and I would be too worried about subjecting them to someing that can't cope with even though they are on medication.

this was really kind of what i was trying to say

the treatment is 45 day if birds have PSITTACOSIS what ever im never going to get that right

only two weeks if they dont

your flock should be doing the whole 45 day cycle and i would be treating birds exactly where they are not moving them together till after the 45 days

specially lou lou and the three exposed birds

you placed around as they were supposedly lonely as all these birds were more likely to attain the illness than anywhere else in your flock

if lou lou only showed small sighn id say she could be a candidate carrier so i would even after treatment keep her aside for a good 6ix months to make sure the eye thing is not going to recurrent thing if it did come back with in this time slot then id take her life into my own hands if not after 6ix months id return her to flock
