Posted February 2, 201015 yr I have two male Budgerigars, (pet), as identified by KAZ(thanks), and they're performing a weird behavior. My green budgerigar regurgitates food into my Blue Budgerigar, and he eats it. I would understand M/F behavior, but is this normal for M/M? Edited February 2, 201015 yr by KAZ
February 2, 201015 yr Sean, the budgies are like prisoners in our cages, as prisoners say "if you can't be with the one you love, love the one your with." Personally I'd get some female company for your boys, cheers Clearwing
February 2, 201015 yr Hey Clearwing my boys are in the aviary with the girls and the boys still choose to chat up the other boys I think I have a lot of swingers in my aviary
February 2, 201015 yr Author I picked up two females earlier today, but KAZ said they must be put through a quarantine period, which is what I'm doing, even though the females are just itching to get in there with the males.
February 2, 201015 yr Yes you should do the quarantine as it is not worth taking the risk of loosing all your birds
February 3, 201015 yr I have three cocks who are trying to pair up with each other - one feeds the other, who then starts head bobbing to the third one. They are never apart from what I can see. Its quite funny to watch - they just don't seem interested in the hens that are there. hahah
February 3, 201015 yr Author Were your males by any chance only with each other for any amount of time?
February 3, 201015 yr This is very common behaviour. I had two females do it too. Great work on the quarantine... very important. Back to the behaviour... they can also mount each other, which obviously does nothing... lol... I personally wouldn't worry. Is it just one feeding the other or are they both having a go. If it's only one, check the receiver isn't sick... as they can help feed the unwell. ALSO>>> never apoligise for too many questions. The only way to learn is to ask. I don't know about the others, but I'd assume we'd all prefer plenty of questions than for you to come on here saying 'this and that has happened... help' when the situation could have been helped by a simple question. Have you checked out out FAQ's??? They don't cover everything, but have plenty of info... Button top right of screen. The search function is also handy, same spot. But... if in doubt, ask. You often find others have a similar issue but don't want to ask... so we all win!
February 4, 201015 yr Budgies are terrible - they don't seem to mind if it's boy on boy, girl on girl or even some swingers action they just take it anyway they can - dirty little so and so's But that's waht makes them good pets too - their ability to bond with others - even people who are so obviously not the right partner for them!!!!
February 4, 201015 yr Were your males by any chance only with each other for any amount of time? No they've been around hens the whole time - there were three hens in with them when I got them, along with another three cocks. And I know they were all around other hens and cocks before I received them Edited February 4, 201015 yr by Amy S
