Posted January 31, 201015 yr I know it is always recommended to feed fresh veggies and fruits which I was doing regularly at least five times a week . The mixture includes nothing that is forbidden or poisonous to budgies . It is served in the morning and te rest is taken when I come from work , it usually satys 12 hours in the cage . But this regime seems to lead to diarrhea on some of my birds , could this be the cause or should I look for something else ? By the I may be mistaken in diarrhea diagnosis as I am not experienced enough , the droppings are green with a little or no white portion . They seem not very watery and hold their cylinder shape so the feces portion is formed . If it is not diarrhea , is it something else different that I should worry about ? January 31, 201015 yr I would stop feeding the mixture for a while and see it the birds improve. Then when you beggin feeding it again feed only a small amount, which can be consumed quickly. To help further would need to know how many birds, how they are housed etc. best of luck Clearwing
February 1, 201015 yr Author Nothing special ; carrots , broccoli , spinach , parsley , alfalfa and wheatgrass + boiled egg I canceled the fruits as they sour more quickly . There are around 80 birds , housed indoor in cages and in two aviaries .The room is heated , temp is between 14-20 C as it is winter here . There is an aquarium to keep the humidity up . I got UVA+UVB bulbs also . Two of the fenced windows are continously half open , I can not sense an air flow as the window heights are around 3 m. from the ground and I am not a basketball player Edited February 1, 201015 yr by cem
February 1, 201015 yr In hot weather salmonella and ecoli is always a concern because fresh produce can go off. Just to be on the safe side I give my budgies fresh vegies in the evening. Budgies tend to eat and drink at dusk and then again at dawn (more or less) so if you give them anything in the evening it is usually all gone by mid-morning the next day. I see you're in Turkey and being Northern Hemisphere I am not familiar with the weather you are experiencing right now ... But just to be on the safe side try doing a search for Droppings Analysis, here's a link to one of them: http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....showtopic=22914 Best of Luck!
February 1, 201015 yr I only give my birds enough that it is eaten in a couple of hours then I take it away in the winter I leave it longer.
