January 28, 201015 yr Full photos required please, as even in that photo a heavily wing marked recessive pied will look exactly like that :happy-dancing: Whenever you ask for mutation or sexing..............full clear photos required.

I agree with everyone else, we need full pictures. But I think the second picture shows some opaline in the v area of the back. It's barely visible, so I'm waiting for other pics with baited breath, because I think he may be opaline. My guess on gender is male, and I like Mortimer better than Vovo, so I'm glad to see by your siggy that you seem to have decided on Mortimer!

February 1, 201015 yr I'm no good when it comes to sexing pieds, but at a guess I too would say a cock
February 2, 201015 yr Looks like a boy to me too. And does it matter if the girl is a yellowface - although I'm still to be convinced! Mating her with Mortimer will at least determine something - whether she is a blue or whether she is a green series (then you would KNOW if she is yf mauve or not). If she is indeed a YF mauve all the chicks will be blue series. GB if they are both yellow face, presumably they are both single factor yellow face (or yellow face split blue) so the results should be: 25% will be blues 50% will be single factor yf 25% will be double factor yf (white faced) Although you won't be able to tell the difference between the normal blues and the double factor yf I suspect that would not really matter too much and at least you would get an answer about the hen.

February 2, 201015 yr I have a question. Isn't the reason we were confused about Alfalfa being mauve or green because she is a YF TYPE TWO ? And Mortimer appears to be YF1? So doesn't that rule out double factor yf1 with a white face? (Unless Alfalfa is split to yf1, of course)
February 2, 201015 yr Author ahhhhh all your smart talk budgie lingo is confusing me! you have got to remember im only a hatchling =] haha thankyou alll for your help i wasnt thinking of breedeing yet i only got mortimer as a friend for alfalfa as she was lonely, but i was interested in breeding them, but in the future they are only babies= ] and i didnt even know at the time when i brought mortimer whether he was a he or she =] but your right i guess it will allow me to determine the colouring of alfalfa will let you know when they have offspring in the future it will probly be in this forum of mutations when i ask what mutations im going to add you as friends grant ps: thanks gb i hope too they will have beautiful baby chicks =]
