New Budgie On Thursday

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

We went Budgie window shopping today. We saw a male budgie, no doubts here that it's a male. We asked the bloke there, if he would hold it for us until next Thursday, he placed it in a cage that has no other budgies in it like it and said we can get it next Thursday. He said it was a Fluorescent Pied Budgie, I never heard of that type before, the bird is absolutely gorgeous. We now will have to shop around for a mate for him, lol. With a bird that gorgeous it will be a long hen selection process rofl. Will post pictures when we get them. We got our camera back, so expect better pics of our other three Budgies, speaking of them, I replaced the bell AGAIN, rofl.

No such mutation as a flourescent pied budgie.........just another made up name by an amateur ( the bloke )

He said it was a Fluorescent Pied Budgie, I never heard of that type before
and you wont hear of one again unless its the same fellow making up more new names :laughter:

Tell him you will swap him a budgie book so he can learn to call them by their right names in return for the budgie.

Well I can't wait to see photos! Kaz is right, no such thing as a fluorescent pied - BUT he must be a pretty budgie to be given such a description! :laughter:

We figured as much, will post a picture so we can get a better identification for it. He said our hen hedwig was a Spangled pied, he seemed to throw the pied word around rofl. We hope we have done the right thing by reporting a pet shop which shall remain nameless, the Birds were in sad condition, two peach faces were missing all feathers on the breast, they had two zebra finches in with canaries which were huge compared to them and were attacking the little finches. Some of the budgies were'nt great, with one budgie completely missing it's tail feathers.

are you sure you want to be buying from a place like that then ? Buying is a form of support, not necessarily a way to save a budgie.

Anyway, if you choose to go ahead, post a picture so we can help you ID the bird.

The budgie is coming from a different place, altogether. the place is spotless and clean, the birds are in excellent condition. We have decided to not buy any from the place that is being reported. The wife wants to save as many as she could though, don't blame her. I feel sorry for them, hmmm with the budgies though we might just get a call from them, because we said we would take abandoned and unwanted budgies from the RSPCA

The Brightly coloured Budgie is home and doing quite well. He is adjusting rather quickly. He has a yellow face, a bright green belly and tail. I am going to get batts for Camera so expect pics soon. While we were there we also picked up a sky blue budgie with white speckled blue through them. The Brightly coloured budgie we named Ollie, after Tom's favourite comedy duo, Laurel & Hardy. The other Budgie is named Jimmy, not sure on that reason lol.
