Bald Spot Under Wing

I'm wondering if someone could please help me. My budgie has always molted a lot more often than usual basically everytime the weather changes. She had a benign fatty tumour removed a year ago and she seemed fine but the vet told us she needed to lose weight to be healthy we've tried everything and she still weighs 54 grams. The problem is now she gets a very sore bald spot under her wings when she molts which she keeps picking at and when the molt has been a bad one like the one she's experiencing now the bald spot seems to get infected. The last time the vet had me put 0.1 ml of Baytril in 20 ml of drinking water. I don't know if it helped or if she just got over it on her own but now 3 months later the sore bald spot is back again and covers the whole area under her wing. It really seems to bother her. I've heard bad things about Baytril though and I'm wondering if I should risk it or just see if the spot goes away when she's finished molting. She's also holding her tail high and looks uncomfortable. Right now I have her on Probiotic vitamins. I'd really appreciate any info anyone may have or if anyone has experienced something like this. We don't leave her alone ever and she only goes in her cage when it's time to go to sleep and she seems happy so I don't think it's a behavioural thing.

Kind Regards, Daniela

Gee sorry Daniela. This sounds like a job for a very good avian vet.

Good luck getting a good diagnosis.

But for wieght loss I have been recommended to use lettuce seeds for my birds (by a very experience show breeder). I haven't tried this on them yet (or on me either for that matter) but migh be worth a try for your girl.
