Roxy, All Grown Up

I thought it was time for a update on Roxy and show some pics of how she has turned out. Some people on the forum would remember her but the new members would not so a quick background to her story. I had a hen decided to attacked her own chicks, 2 were only plucked so another forum member foster them in one of her nests but 2 others were not in a good condition so i decided to handraise them. One died but Roxy survived . For a few days i was not sure if she would pull through but she did and now she is 18 months old and still going strong. Even though she lives in the aviary now she still is very special to me and comes to me for a chat every day.

She has heaps of blue colouring on her back.

When i sit in the aviary she comes and visits me along with 2 other budgies who i handraised.

Thats so sweet that they still come to you even though they're now in an aviary. How beautiful

I did not know that Roxy lived in the aviary. That is great.

I am pleased she has not forgotten you.

Do you plan on letting her have a clutch in the future?

I am thinking about breeding her this year but still trying to work out a good male for her. Would love to get some bubs with the same beautiful opaline markings that she has.

if thats the case it may take longer but if you breed her to a normal cock not opaline split

then all the cocks will be split opaline with her clear mantal genes then you place one these cocks with another hen with a clean mantal opaline and bam really nice clean mantaled chicks

just takes a year lol

or you could just put her with a really nice opaline cock with clear mantal should get one good clean one if not all out of that mateing as they will all be opaline so....does that make sence

Thank you so much for the update, I remember her she is such a special budgie here to the forum and she has grown up into a beauty.

Gosh what a gorgeous hen! Such a pretty one! :D

Well done on handraising such a perfect little bird!!
