Posted January 7, 201015 yr Hi Guys Today we became the proud owners of 2 gorgeous budgies!! We had been thinking about adding to our menagery for while and after a holiday away, now was the time. We know very little about budgies but are interested in finding out what we can. I have posted a link to some amature pics. Can someone let us know if there are different "types", what type have we adopted. Any idea of gender? The one on the right has a blue tag around its leg & the other doesn't, what does this mean? Any general hints & tips would be greatly appreciated :cake: Vicki aka 3musketeers http://i874.photobucket.com/albums/ab302/s...51/IMG_4693.jpg Edited January 9, 201015 yr by KAZ
January 7, 201015 yr Hi and welcome :cake: Your budgie on the left is a recessive pied. The one on the right is a double factor spangle male and has been bred for showing. Are you sure his legring is blue ? It looks green. Please read off the code on it and post here and we may be able to help you find out about the breeder. Edited January 7, 201015 yr by KAZ

The legring is green. From reading a little more on the forum does that not mean he is about 3? The code is WA JL 9 (either a sideways 47 or sideways triangle 7) 063

JL9 means he is a John Patterson bred bird...its handy to have a W.A. ring registrar on BBC ( ME :hb: ) John Patterson is a very nice man Edited January 7, 201015 yr by KAZ
January 12, 201015 yr Author Thanks for all the info Can I please ask another question too? We have a decent sized cage for Nasi & Goreng (we just returned from Bali ) but as we are animal lovers would like the best for them within our financial means. Does this cage look suitable? http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/p/bird-cage-...nd-81-54-157cm/ We've checked every Bird/Pet store we can find and this seems a real bargain. Thanks in advance Vicki Edited January 12, 201015 yr by birdluv
