Ooh look, your gorgeous hen! love her! good luck with these two :offtopic: Sorry for your losses Dave. Hopefully this round with this pairing will go much better.
January 20, 201015 yr Author With this pair, it will be interesting the results. The possible outcomes for the above pair with the two chicks are: 12.5% male green /cinnamon 12.5% male green Dominant pied(sf) /cinnamon 12.5% male green /ino cinnamon 12.5% male green Domiant pied(sf) /ino cinnamon 12.5% female green 12.5% female green Dominant pied(sf) 12.5% female ino 12.5% female ino Dominant pied (visually a lutino but the ino gene masks the dominant pied) If you had not worked it out before, the cock is carrying the Ino gene. How do I know? He has had lutino chicks before.

January 20, 201015 yr sorry to hear your sad news dave all the best with this pairing she is a lovely hen isnt she
January 20, 201015 yr Author She is a great hen. That is why i was so annoyed when I lost another hen that was identical to her one day. Imagine having two hens like that down breeding. Oh happy days. Oh well, I really hope that she throws some lovely young. We will see.
January 21, 201015 yr sorry to hear sume babys are dieing but all you can do is look foward hope you get sume babys out off her
January 23, 201015 yr Author We have had 3 really hot days here, and this has seen hens hop off the eggs at different stages. Since it is only early in the breeding cycle, I am not sure what effect this will have on the possibility of chicks. As it stands, there are 4 breeding pairs down. Pair 1 - Cinnamon Wing Blue Cock with Blue Hen - no eggs yet, but lots of feeding, preening and the hen has been checking out the nestbox, with the cock standing guard. Pair 2 - Grey Cock with GreyGreen Spangle Hen - 2 eggs, one which looks very large. Pair 3 - Light Green Dominant Pied/Lutino Cock with Cinnamon Green Hen - 3 eggs Pair 4 - Light Green Spangle with Grey Green Hen (Possibly 2 dark factors as she is the darkest grey green I have ever seen) - no eggs yet, but hen is spending a lot of time preparing the nestbox. Cooler weather here is a pleasant change.
January 25, 201015 yr Author No change in the number of eggs today, but I have to say, I am very surprised by the size of the eggs that my Cec Gearing bred spangle is laying. They are huge. I really hope they are fertile and we get some young from them. Wow is all I can say. I will try to get tomorrow

February 12, 201015 yr Author Been away for 4 days at yr 7 camp, just checked in on birds. It seems some eggs were affected by the heat, but others were not. Pair 1 - Grey Cock and GreyGreen Spangle Hen - big baby who $ only 3 days old, but big!!! Pair 2 - Green Dommie Pied Cock and Green Cinnamon Wing Hen - a lot of eggs but no hatchlings yet Pair 3 - Light Green Spangle Cock and GreyGreen Hen - 3 big eggs Pair 5 - Cinnamon Wing Blue Cock and Blue Hen - nothing.
February 12, 201015 yr Author A few - not sure all up, probably about 16 in 3 nests, but not sure how many are viable.
February 12, 201015 yr Author Is that a lot? Yes and no, it depends on the individual bird. Show birds, as a rule, generally have smaller clutches, however there are some birds like Omelette ( Kaz's birds) that lay 11 0r so eggs on a consistent basis. One bird has 8, another 5, another 3. I woudl be thrilled if my "8 bird" layed 8 consistenly as she is a great bird from a good breeder. I will see ho this lot turn out, rest her then give her a new better partner. Her older brother (same parents, different clutch) is a great looking bird, so I will be happy to see some of those genes come through.
February 15, 201015 yr Author An update A 5 day old chick in the nestbox of this pair below. Big chick too, already rung. A 1 day old chick in the nestbox of this pair below A 1 day old chick in the nestbox of this pair below.
