I Have A New Man In My Life

Meet Santa , my handsome light green opaline spangle from the lovely Kaz.

He is named Santa for his beard and I received him around christmas. I had the choice between Aussie and Santa - I couldn't decide between the two names so I pulled the name out of a hat. Karen thought of the name (Thanks for that :D)

Each time I tried to take a photo he seemed to know and slightly moved behind the bars of the cage grrr oh well. Just means I can spend more time with him trying to get the perfect shot :D

I also received a hen (Mrs Claws named so because she came with Santa and birds have claws ;) hahah who is lovely that Karen so kindly gifted me :) . She is quite a bit larger than Santa, though Santa is still growing.

Santa is SUCH a cheeky boy! Before we had even left Karen's house, whilst we were still in the front yard he was chatting up Mrs Claws :D:huh::lol: AND he continued to do so all the way home! She is not overly impressed with his advances and has tried to put him into place, though he hasn't quite gotten the idea she isn't the one for him. She only has a few more weeks to put up with him as they are in quarantine, though if I see her becoming stressed or upset I shall separate them straight away.

It's a shame I didn't have the camera on me this morning! I caught Santa playing in his water bowl with a gumleaf and he had a guilty look on his face when I saw him as if to say "oh Dang i've been sprung" :( haha What a character. :)

Thanks so much :)

I shall write that info down so I can keep a record of what I could possibly breed out of her when I'm ready.

I love his face too. I am soo happy with both of them

Thank you for your kind words. I am very thrilled with these birds. And all the rest of your birds too are just lovely - I reckon I could have put at least four in my pockets :( I had enough room in them....maybe next time :D

They are really nice, Angelic. I love the names Santa and Mrs. Claws. But what if Aussie had come out of the hat? Would you have named her "Bossy"? :D

B):P That's a good one! Or Sheila? B):D

As it wasn't an overly hot day, I released Santa and Mrs Claws into the aviary today :P So excited!! They are the first of my budgies to go into the aviary and they seem quite pleased.

I tried to take some photos of my handsome man but, well, he decided to play peek a boo instead.

Can you see me? Peek a Boo!

Missed ME!!!

BOO!

So I sprung him as he started eyeing off Mrs Claws who is still totally disgusted with his advances and completely uninterested, poor boy.

And because I love him soo muchly, I decided to take a few more photos. I love his blow and beard and his colours :grouphug:

I tried to get Mrs Claws but she was much too interested in flying around and I haven't yet figured out how to take motion pictures. I shall try and take some photos of her tomorrow.

I was nearly going to cull his sister too but suddenly she is looking very nice :mallet: I had better keep her :raincloud:

one thing you may notice with spangles is they take a bit longer to mature and start looking good in most cases :laughter:

  • Author

Oh gosh she IS looking lovely isn't she? You can send her my way if you like :raincloud: :laughter:

Yes I agree about taking awhile to mature. I've been watching Santa and he is getting better all the time....he even has a "playmate"! hahaha it's called a calcium and iodine bell. He wont let the others near his "girlfriend" hahahaha :mallet:
