Itchy Spot

Featured Replies

Ever since I've had my budgie, he's had a little itchy spot down near his tail, once a week or so it gets itchy and raises his feathers from that area and like nibbles at it then rubs his head on it. When that is happening he also always preens his feet in between each itch.

I found a video on you tube of a two budgies who seem to be doing what Nibbles does.

Fast forward to 0:09

I'm really interested to know why they do it. It is just a natural thing for a budgie to do? Becuase it seems pretty weird

Thanks.

Its the location of a budgies preening gland...and where they get the oils they protect their feathers with
