Posted December 21, 200915 yr Jasper is a handraised budgie, so he is already used to hands but not to mine yet. l did not try to introduce my hand to him on the day l got him on Thursday(Dec 17th) and also all day Friday. So he could get use to his new surroundings. On Saturday l tried to give him some millet treats by hand. He just looked at my hand but that was it. I did this 5 times yesterday. Only leaving my hand in his cage for a few minutes each time. Well, today when l put my hand in his cage. He looked at the millet and then my hand for a few seconds. He then went for the millet seeds. He really got into eating the millet seeds, for a moment he leaped onto my hand and then jumped back onto his perch I`m so happy that he is starting to warm up to me. December 22, 200915 yr Author I got his wings clipped today. Before when l did not have him clipped he flew away from me always while l have had him in the bathroom. I took him into the bathroom and he sat on my hand for awhile. He then climbed up my arm, up my chest and sat on my shirt collar for a long time. He even stepped up for me too. Before when l did not have him clipped he flew away from me always. l was shocked to see how easy he is to be handled. I now can see the difference between taming a handtamed baby budgie from a breeder and one from a petstore. Edited December 23, 200915 yr by birdluv
December 22, 200915 yr good work THere is a huge diference... I can understand... being in a pet shop with hundreds (well maybe not quite) of people walking past and staring isn't the thing to get my confidence up either!
December 22, 200915 yr He sounds like a darling! Love your graphic with the santa hat on him. We clipped Django's wings the first time he came home, they took ages (about 3-4 months) to grow back, and by that time he had grown accustomed to our space and knew where to go (and not to go!). He is an awesome flier now, speedy and elegant.
December 23, 200915 yr Author Yes, l do plan on letting his wings grow back. Edited December 23, 200915 yr by birdluv

January 3, 201015 yr Author Well, Jasper is very tamed. He will step up on command. He will sit happily on my finger and also play with his toy balls. outside of the cage. Here is some pictures of him, Link.
