Recessive Pied Ceres/ Sexing

Featured Replies

Hi there, what is the appearance and colour of a male recessive pied chick's cere and a female recessive pied chick's cere and what colours do they develop into as the bird reaches maturity?

I only know that adult males have a pinky purple cere but what does it look like when they're very young? And I'm totally lost as to how the females look. I was just at the pet store today and didn't end up buying any birds because they all looked male to me! :):D

Also, how can you determine the age? Because they never get the white rings, they always look like babies. I guess I just look at thier feet.

Also, if anyone can supply some photos of a baby recessive pied cock, hen and adult recessive pied cock and hen that would be much appreciated. I've done a search online and it's not helpful..

Go to the FAQ's located on top of the site and you will see exactly what you need in there :D.

There are excellent pics. :P under Member's Birds under Mutations and Sexing your Bird you can do a quick search and find that one :).
