Posted December 9, 200915 yr i have 2 3month old babies and they cannot fly and are very small. They seem to have no strength in their wings. i have 2 more babies from the same parents in a foster nest that are 2 weeks old and i have notice they are not developing as well as the other babies in the nest. Can parents pass on genetic problems that could cause the babies to be underdeveloped?

However, I have never heard of a case like yours where the chicks are unable to fly. I will leave that to other members to address. All I can recommend is you do not breed from this pairing again.

December 9, 200915 yr Author There are some very good budgie breeders in the Maitland area.I think it is the Hunter club, they will help you, with your problems.Deb. I joined this forum so i could get advice from breeders when i have problems. I have had contact with the Hunter club once and have no interest in going near them again.
December 9, 200915 yr Is it their feathers Deb? Are they not growing correctly and therefor effecting their ability to fly, or do they look normal? If the look normal, maybe it's something else... Also, do they flap their wings and just not get lift or do they not even try? Can you also post some pictures maybe? I personally don't have much of an idea, but hope someone can help you. If not, maybe a vet visit is in order.
December 9, 200915 yr Author Here are some pics of the babies, their wings look normal to me. They are in the aviary and getting around by climbing, they flap their wings but cannot seem to lift themselves up.
