December 15, 200915 yr Author Yes, if it's a type 1 Dk Grn/Bl (ie dk factor linked to green) then you will get Olives but few Mauves. Consequently if it's a type 2 DkGrn/Bl (ie dark factor linked to blue) then you will get Mauves but very few Olives. As CB9 says, just put them together and see what happens as you don't know what type you have yet. The few Olives I've seen at auction have brought a decent price even if not outstanding in quality so there is a reasonable demand for them due to their usefulness in breeding varieties enhanced by the dark factor. Of course it's easier to breed double dark factor if you already have some. Thank You Daryl

December 22, 200915 yr GOsh I found this most fascinating to read! Of course all info on here is valuable, but I was rather intrigued by this. Would love to know how your outcome with this Renee

Would love to know how your outcome with this Renee I am not overly optimistic ... but with any luck I will fluke one - so it is official: I am in the market for an OLIVE or 2 Thats were the problem starts, is to find an olive to breed with, that is worth the trouble,to breed with. All the budgie auction I have been to I have only seen a couple,so best of luck with your search for one.
