Posted December 7, 200915 yr Hi, I have a hen who has 3 babies, ages 10, 7 & 5 days who all seem to be growing beautifully so far, but I have noticed that the hen has started spending more time out of her box. Is this normal or has she had enough? This is my 1st lot of babies & I have no idea what to expect so any help would be great! Debbie
December 7, 200915 yr As the babies start to feather up the Mums spend more time out of the box so maybe its a little soon. BUT you may just be noticing when you are there and if she hears you and expects you to be looking she will get out of the box.
December 7, 200915 yr Author Thanks for that Kaz, Could the warmer weather also mean she doesn't need to be in there as much? I did notice that although she is out, she is not very far away for very long & pops her head in quite often. She is a 1st time mum & I have only been checking in the box once a day(fighting the desire to check every 5 mins of course!) to make sure she doesn't get too upset. I hope this isn't too much for me to check? Debbie
