Posted December 1, 200915 yr I have a opaline hen paired with a spangle, i am not sure if he is carrying opaline but i am wondering if any of the chicks are looking like opalines.

December 1, 200915 yr I have a opaline hen paired with a spangle, i am not sure if he is carrying opaline but i am wondering if any of the chicks are looking like opalines. okay the second chick has grey down but thats not to say im corect it is a picture after all and chick could be in shadowing but looks grey to me first chick looks blue third looks grey both look spangle as the tail feathers the main two are white fourth also looking spangled im no expert though so oh second chick looks normal not spangled as wing is dark but again a guess it is behind others Edited December 1, 200915 yr by GenericBlue
December 1, 200915 yr the key to pick opaline is the white down feathers, it is easier to see when they are younger than this, when the down is just starting to appear as they wings will have dark spots on them however the body will still look all pink. I agree with GB first, third and fourth opaline spangles

I never understood how you guys could tell the spangles at this stage, but those two main tail feathers look very clear to me.
December 1, 200915 yr I think all 4 are spangles and the 2nd one in is not opaline. The reason i say spangle without being able to see the tail pins is that the wing pattern is very similar to the others.
