i just brought home a budgie and its lying down inside the cage, it had dried up poo around its vent and i cleared it and i also squeezed the vent because it was all puffy and runny poo came out it was like water :D

i really want it 2 survive because its a really good show type

Take the bird to a vet ASAP.

Put the bird in a hospital cage with a 40 watt globe.

Sorry, can't help you anymore than that. I'm sure other members will tell you if there is anymore that you can do.

anything i can do persides the vet

no. you need to take this bird to the vet. i know i sound horriblwe but birds are NOT cheap always always always remember that you need spare funds for a vet trip and other needs. if your not willing to do that you should no have bought this budgie. anyway i wish you good luck :D x

There may be, but it sounds as if your bird is very sick, so I would take it to the vet. Try and keep your birds vent clear as well. Make sure he/she is separated from your other birds to prevent the spread of whatever your bird has.

Dried up poop means it hasnt been able to poop once it set hard around the vent....this is toxic and can kill them. Squeezing the vent maybe wasnt a good idea as sometimes you can crack the pelvis doing that.

If you are hoping someone will give you a cure that doesnt involve the vet, at this stage I wont either....... :D VET or expect it to die.

By you saying you just brought home the budgie in this condition....where from and why ?

I agree with Kaz.

There is nothing we can do except make it more comfortable while you wait to see the vet. A vet will be able to diagnose the organism causing the condition.

Sorry don't mean to be rude but why would you bring home a sick birds as your other birds may get the same thing, even if it's isolated.

If the bird survives you will need to disinfect the cage with something like Virkon S to kill any diseases left by the bird and even if the bird lives I would still disinfect everything the birds being in contact with.

I agree ..................

Sorry... but an Emergency vet is required here. Waiting until tomorrow will most likely see it pass. Budgie do not show their illness until they are very sick, to have a bird lying down on the bottom of the cage is a very bad sign. I really hope is was no where near any of your other birds. Good luck and please let us know how you got on at the vets.
