What Have I Got

Hi Guys,

I have 2 birds that i am confused about.

The first one i caught one morning when it flew in to have a chat.

It (i have no idea of it's sex) is yellow with a few bar lines in it's head going from one eye to the other, it has a white ring in it's eye and is a clear wing. The thing thst is confusing me is it's cere is pink with bright blue between it's nostrils almost like someone has painted it on with a paint brush. Any ideas!

The second one i think is a dominant pied. He is white with minimal baring on his head and the white spot on the back of his head, white ring in his eye, black markings in the top 1/4 of his wings a blue patch on his back between his wings and a small amount of blue just above his legs in a thin line. It's cere is pinky brown but very smooth with the tiniest hint of blue sheen between it's nostrils that is only noticable if the sun shines in the right direction. I have tried pairing it off with a sky blue opaline hen but as yet no results. If he is with other males he tries to mount them but with hens he shows no interest, so it is an unusaul bird. Again any ideas!

Your first one sounds like a double factor dominant pied................in all cases though PHOTOS help a lot. Please post pictures if you want an accurate diagnosis

Can you post some pictures? That would help a great deal :D

I hope i did this right, I'm not too computer savvy. The 1st picture is of one of my latest fledglings. What colour would you record this boy as. His parents are a lutino hen & cock bird is Golden face green/blue normal. The other chicks from the clutch all have yellow faces to start but on 1st molt change to golden faces and keep their solid body colour. The other pics are of the white & yellow pieds. I forgot to tell you the yellow ? has a greeny blue patch where the white bird has blue.

Hi Kaz,

i posted some pics for you to look at but i'm not sure if i did it the right way.

Thanks,

Lib

Both the yellow budgie and the white one look like double factor dominant pieds to me.

Could you tell me if they are male or female and what the distinguishing features are of a DF over a SF Dominent Pied.

Are you also able to tell me what colour the bird is in the first photo. I have only just started to breed other colours and am unsure of what i would record it as. Is it yellow face violet or blue.

As i said before it parents are lutino hen & yellow face dk green/blue normal.

Hi everyone,

I am just wondering if anyone had any ideas about the sex of the 2 "DF Dominant Pieds" that are in the pictures i posted. The yellow one is the most interesting being half blue & half pink.

I was also wondering if anyone could identify the colouring of the young bird in the first picture for me, i need to record it's colouring but have never had a bird this colour before. Is it in the mauve or blues and would it be considered a clear wing (heavily marked). The cock is a GF Olive green/blue normal and the hen is Lutino.

Please help !!!!

Thanks

Lib
