Posted November 28, 200915 yr My teacher brought in her pet lovebird as a classroom pet but recently he's been acting weird. Sleeping during day, eyes closed, less active, less noisy, never see eat and drink and falling over are some of the poor creature's symptoms. My teacher just says he's just a bit unwell but I'm worried. She says she'll take the bird to the vet if he gets worse and I've tried telling her that it will be too late but she just doesn't listen! She used to have another one that died because half of it's wing was ripped off and she didn't notice, it was like that before she got though. So I thought she'd know that it will be too late by the time she gets it to the vet. Can I have some advice on persuading her? Please! Edited November 28, 200915 yr by KAZ
November 28, 200915 yr How do you think your teacher would take to you printing out some fact sheets about birds' health? Specifically ones where it explains how they hide their symptoms until they're very sick. Unfortunately there's not always a lot we can do sometimes to persuade someone else to spend a lot of money on their pet, but it is good that you have been trying to educate your teacher on the importance of her bird's health.
November 29, 200915 yr i say if your teacher wont listen go higher it is a class pet after all see the principle about this issue after all teachers are meant to be role models
December 1, 200915 yr Author He doesn't really know about birds unfortunately. It's perked up a bit and if it gets any worse she says it will go to the vet. I tried to tell her that once it really starts to show symptons it will probably die. Every classmate gets to take the bird home each weekend and I really hope it won't go home this time. My bird Boof was sick and then we had to go on holiday so Mum and Dad left it at somebody's place that had a cat and a dog. I'm pretty sure that that contributed to it's death, poor thing.
