Questions:

How long have you had him?

Has the biting just started? Is it hard and the bird strikes out or flirty where he is dancing around?

Are you opposed to wing clipping for training purposes? Flight feathers will grow back within a couple months.

What have you done to gain your birds trust? feeding food, sitting by the cage etc....

How old is your bird?

i have had him for about 3 months. he has always bit me but not as bad as now, its really hard when he does bit and he like hits his beak on my hand. I haven't yet clipped his wings as he doesn't fly off when i go near him, just bites.

to try and gain his trust I have hand fed him millet seed and I always talk to him. but he still bites! I'm not entirely sure how old he is i think he's younger than a year.

Please help...

I don't know if your budgie is handtamed but if he is then this might help you.

When your budgie bites you. In a frim voice say "no" and immediately return him to his cage. When he is in the cage ignore him if he makes alot of noise. Only go to his cage if he is calmed down. He will learn that his biting behaviour does not receive any attention.

It sounds like maybe you should start at square one. Stop putting you hand in his cage, and only offer him millet through the bars, (but only when he is being calm and quiet, like Birdluv said.)

When you have to do something inside the cage, try to do it calmly, upsetting him as little as possible. Every time you upset him, you set his taming back a notch.

To gain his trust, he has to get used to your presence and your voice. Talk to him as much as possible, especially as you approach or pass his cage, so he gets used to you walking around him and talking to him.

At first, he won't trust you enough to even take millet through the bars, but if no other millet is available to him, and he really wants it, eventually he will get brave and come over and eat some.

If he doesn't come to this point, don't expect him to ever like having you hand inside the cage with him. It's a matter of him getting over his fear, and trusting that you are not going to hurt him. This takes a long time, and much patience. Weeks or even months.

But budgies are very social, and since he is alone in his cage, with only you for company, if you can gain his trust, he will be motivated to make friends with you eventually.

budgie gloves - then the biting becomes irrelevant to you, budgies are smart, he will work it out

Get some gloves maybe, then, when you don't do anything about him biting, he'll get bored and eventually quit.

There is an excellent article in the FAQ section about Taming your Budgie, I suggest you read through it.

It sounds like your budgie is biting out of fear and probably had a bad experience either at the pet store or with you.
