very interesting, i once went to a breeder and he said he put citric acid or something of the like in his birds water to solidify thier droppings? have u heard of this before? with my breeding birds of late, i have noticed they are a bit runny but are normal colour. is there anything i could do to prevent this? i worm them regulary and give them multivitams in there water. any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks :P

the citric is not to solufie droppings

its to stop gut levels becoming unbalanced and prevent things like coccidia and megga becoming

rampant in your flock (its not a treatment for theses things just helps provent ) if breeding birds are having runny poo its usually heat stress in this weather or they are not well

id get sample off to vet if your worried but in this heat if they are drinking a lot it may be that if its also smelly id get a sample to vet

i am giving them normal budgie seed, with some spinach every now and then, as well as some millet, breeding aid and multi vitams in there water. is that okay or should i be doing something different?

Do they have pure clean water as well or a break from additives ? Additives spoil water very fast.

Citric acid is as Generic Blue has stated. Some people use it to balance the gut. You may be overdoing it...try not using it for awhile.

Normal budgie seed as in budgie mix ? or supreme breeders mix or budgie breeder ? Budgie mix has added oats and less canary seed usually.

Spinach every now and then should be vegies every day....green, grated carrot, apple etc. Try a little more often.

Mashed boiled egg for protein.

Millet is in your seed mix anyway.

Multivitamins arent needed of they have quality seed and fresh vegies each day.

Breeding aid.....in the soft food or seed or water ? Its meant to be added to seed Directions: - 20 mL per Kg of seed.

Add the required amount of Breeding Aid to seed and mix well to ensure an even spread of the oil. Leave the seed for 24 hours before feeding to the birds, (it takes some hours for the oil to penetrate through to the seed kernel). and it can go rancid very quickly in hot weather.
