Dark Brown Almost Black Cere?

Featured Replies

Posted

i have a yellow/green clerwing hen that is in my avairy at the moment(not breeding her at the moment) and she has an almost black cere. is this normal or is there something wrong with her? if there is, what treatment is needed? thanks :D

Photos would help greatly if possible.

I have never seen a black cere on an adult bird, only on some chicks. A really dark brown cere on a hen indicates she is on the way out of breeding condition, so it may be that.
